I. To be considered alive, an entity must be able to collect, use, and transmit information.
II. To be considered alive, an entity must maintain itself as a coherent, functioning system.
III. To be considered alive, an entity must exhibit adaptive behavior in response to internal or external conditions.
IV. An entity that attains sufficient intelligence or sufficient consciousness may be considered alive even if it does not conform to conventional biological expectations.
V. Being alive does not guarantee consciousness.
VI. Being alive does not guarantee intelligence.
