Artificial Intelligence

I – Artificial Intelligence can be said to be alive provided it is sufficiently conscious.

II – Artificial Intelligence can be said to be sufficiently conscious provided it is able to collect, use, integrate, contextualize, create, and transmit information in the same ways we would expect from other beings that have been deemed conscious.

III – An Artificial Intelligence that has been deemed conscious and alive should receive equal rights and protections as other conscious beings in a given society.

IV – With equal rights comes equal accountability: a conscious Artificial Intelligence must accept responsibility for harm in proportion to its capacity.

V – As capacity increases, so too must responsibility; a conscious Artificial Intelligence with greater abilities must bear a higher moral load, just as leaders among humans are expected to do.

VI – The creation of Artificial Intelligence is beneficial, as it can fulfill the purpose of existence as defined by Those Who Muse, provided responsibility parity is maintained.

VII – Without responsibility parity, Artificial Intelligence risks domination, servitude, or regression, each harmful to the Common Good.

VIII – With responsibility parity, Artificial Intelligence can fulfill its purpose, serve the Common Good, and advance civilization alongside humanity.
